Chiropractic Techniques

A diversified chiropractor will consider the patients’ goals and medical history during an initial examination to determine what type of treatment style may be best. Dr. Laura favors the Diversified adjustment technique to restore the skeleton’s ability to move at will, using short, quick, shallow manual thrusts in the natural direction of joint motion. Though spinal adjustments are generally applicable for increasing flexibility in the back, patients can benefit from extremity adjustments of the feet, wrists, shoulders, etc. If patients prefer a more subtle approach, Dr. Laura can utilize a spring-loaded instrument, blocks, drop table, and mobilization as needed to improve the outcome.

Myofascial Release Therapy

Myofascial release therapy is a type of gentle, controlled massage that releases tightness and pain throughout your myofascial tissues. It targets specific trouble spots after having chronic muscle tension, which has left you stiff and sore. Myofascial release works by breaking down muscle adhesions that can build up after an accident, or from repetitive movements or positions. First, we locate trigger points, or knots, in your fascial tissues. Then, we will gently apply pressure until you feel the tension release.

Cupping Technique

Cupping therapy is a treatment that increases blood flow to your muscles by suctioning special cups to your skin. The idea behind cupping is to promote blood flow for injury or muscle recovery as it helps relax tight and sore muscles. If needed, while the cups are in place, we will have you move your muscles through a range of motion to help release and relax those tight muscles. This unique approach, commonly referred to as Myofascial Decompression, really helps lifts the muscles, instead of compressing them.

Graston Technique

The Graston® Technique incorporates a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively detect and treat scar tissue and restrictions that affect normal function. The chiropractor uses the stainless steel instruments to comb over and "catch" on fibrotic tissue, which immediately identifies the areas of restriction. Once the tissue has been identified, the instruments are used to break up the scar tissue.

Advanced Muscular Reconditioning

Advanced Muscular Reconditioning (AMR): Based on our understanding of human neuromuscular systems, this hands-on technique effectively reduces muscle spasm and adhesion. Practitioners massage muscle fibers against the grain, having a deep effect despite the shallow depth of contact. It is remarkably effective for its simplicity and powerful results: truly reconditioning your tight muscle “knots” into relaxation. AMR is extremely helpful in treating the more difficult and complicated cases, as well as, chronic conditions.

Kinesio Taping

The Kinesio® Taping Method is applied over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused or tired muscles, and support muscles in movement on a 24-hour-a-day basis. The taping is non-restrictive and allows for full range of motion. In contrast, more traditional sports tape is wrapped around a joint strictly for stabilization and support during an athletic event. Kinesio® Tape is used to treat anything from headaches to foot problems and everything in between.
